Mama Bui Bui (F; ~4 yrs old when rescued; abandoned; Bui Bui family)

Mama Bui Bui was a pregnant dog who was abandoned by her owner on the mountain. However, this abandoned dog was clever enough to find her way home, but every time she ran back, she was chased away and even kicked by her adopter. As a result, she had to wander nearby and scavenge for food. An aunt, seeing how pitiful the dog was, would occasionally bring her some meals to prevent her from starving on the mountain. But later, the dog suddenly went missing.

After some time, the dog reappeared, bringing back six puppies with her. Foolishly, she hoped that her adopter would accept them as a family, but of course, she was chased away and kicked again. The dog may have been severely traumatized, becoming withdrawn and unwilling to approach people, to the point that she would run away even from the aunt.

The aunt said: "The dog is so strong. She went from being a pet dog to a stray, giving birth alone in the grass on the mountainside without anyone to help her. She survived hunger, escaped attacks from wild boars and stray dogs, and avoided the 'mountain bamboo' while raising her puppies to be healthy and lively!"

Upon hearing the dog’s story, we immediately tried to rescue the puppies, but because the dog was very alert and wary of humans, we struggled for nearly three months without success. Just at this critical moment, we received some bad news.

At that time, someone on the mountain started poisoning stray dogs, and several strays had already been killed in recent days, making the situation extremely urgent. Seeing this, we knew we had to do everything we could to move the dog immediately. Finally, thanks to everyone's perseverance until 4 AM, we successfully lured her into a trap.

We took the dog for a health check and discovered that she was pregnant again. April brought her home to care for her during her pregnancy and named her "Mama Bui Bui." Later, on March 9, 2019, Mama Bui Bui gave birth to nine puppies. Some have been successfully adopted, while the five remaining puppies were arranged by April to live with Mama Bui Bui at the shelter she founded, collectively known as the "Bui Bui family"!
